I have anaylsed a cheryl cole article for my media coursework.

The artist featured in this magazine e is a pop sensation and her name is Cheryl Cole. She is known for being in Girls aloud.  The target audience for this article will be working class men and women from the age of 16-30 years old. The type of language used in this article is very formal, and appeals to many of the working class population will be able to read this article. ‘After the first girls aloud album there was a lot of hatred for them’ this phrase is very easy to read and it also is in correct English.

The magazine uses a very friendly tone to address the reader an example of this is’ her parents split up when she was 11, and she discovered they were never married and that her 3 elder siblings were not her father’s children’ it almost as if the magazine is friends with the reader because it’s giving them some information about Cheryl background. The text is arranged in paragraphs and is much organised, it’s easy to read and understandable. The pages are laid out into 4 and on every page are and image of Cheryl which tells the audience that she has plenty to shows and say and wants the world to know she has another side to her. Cheryl is presented in a different in this article because normally she is dressed in colour however in this article she is dressed in black and has water all over her which implies that she is becoming more serious with her career and wants to be seen as a different kind of artist. Normally Q magazine features rock artist and not pop artist like Cheryl she the fact that she is being featured in this issue means that she is ready to take the next step in her career and this magazine is helping her do this.’ Everything I do is scrutinised, everything I fucking say’ this quote shows Cheryl in another light because usually she doesn’t swear so for her to swear in this article means that she is tired of all the bad things that are happening to her in the media and wants a change in life and also it means that she is starting not to care about what people say, it’s almost as if she fighting back.

The article and the front cover of the magazine have the same colours and the house style has not changed. The same colours have been used which are red, black and white. The reason for these colours being used is because they all show the dark side to her life except the colour white because this represents purity and can imply that she is still that innocent young woman.
