This second magazine analysis. I have used Q magazine again. However this time the artists are jay-z a hip- hop sensation who is a role model to many young men out there.

 

Q is a music magazine that features all kinds of artist from all kinds of genre of music. Looking at the front cover it is obvious that the kind of articles that are going to be inside the magazine will be of jay-z mainly since he is on the front cover and also it will be featuring lady gaga and Dave grohl. The target audience will be teenage boys and men ranging from the age of 16-30. it will be males that love rap and hip-hop and are intrigued in jay-z life.

The magazine is trying to pursue jay-z in another way. I say this because he has a tie and suit on and if we look at jay-z music videos this is not the case. Also the reason for then pursuing another look for him may be to capture the eye of a new target audience and for people to se another side to jay-z which could be conservative. The magazine wants its readers to feel free reading the magazine because stereotypically people may not want to read about jay-z because of what has been said in the media by him, so the magazine wants to gain a friendly relationship with its readers.

The person on this front cover is rapping and hip- hop sensation jay-z. the reason for him being in this issue of Q magazine may be to gain a new audience and for people to stop judging him by his music and appearance and get an insight into his life. The anchorage text sees jay-z in a new light because it says ‘meet the planets greatest rock star’ jay-z isn’t generally known for being a rock star and the fact that he is seen as this in this magazine implies to the readers that a change is about to over come in the kind of music he produces.

The magazine also states the Brandon flowers is leaving the famous rock band ‘the killer’. The fact that the magazine tells us that shows the kind of relations it wants with its readers which is a gossip, friendly comfortable one. Q  magazine’s title block is very bold and out standing because the letter Q is standing out on a fiery red background which implies how passionate they are about there magazine and that they want it to be world- wide buy making is so daring and out there. The puffs tell us about other artists such as David grohl who is featured in this issue to talk about heroin. The fact the this magazine talk about a very sensitive subject such as heroin shows that they are looking to gain the kind of audience who are affected was affected or knows someone who is affected by this drug. They do this by using a celebrity who people might have as there role model. The colours used in this magazine are very neutral and all contrast with each other. Jay-z has a light blue shirt on which implies that he is calm however her also has a black blazer on which could also mean business and the fact that the background is white which represents purity shows that he may be making changes in his life. Majority of the fonts are all the same they are all bold and look like they are in times new roman which again shows the seriousness of jay-z and the magazine.
